Florida Swimmers at the ACC Champs
So how about Florida Swimmers at the ACC Champs. The Atlantic Coast Conference women’s championship is underway at the Greensboro Aquatic Center and not only are the the ladies from Florida State and the University of Miami competing, but so are several other swimmers who grow up training in competing in the state of Florida.
For the University of Virginia, Bolles alum Kasey Schmidt, Saint Andrews’ Megan Moroney, and ATAC’s Cece Williams are competing. Kasey placed 22nd in the 50 Free (22.98) while Megan placed 10th in the 500 Free (4:42.69). Megan reached the podium as part of Virginia’s silver-winning 200 Free Relay. Cece finaled in the 500 Free, placing 8th (4:44.17).
North Carolina’s Macey Arnold swam to 19th place with a 4:48.02 in the 500 freestyle.
Meanwhile CAT’s Lexy Aitchison and Blue Wave’s Maddie Hess are representing the Duke Blue Devils. Lexy placed 24th in the 500 Free (4:56.07). Maddie finaled in the 50 Free, placing 6th (22.42) and helped the Duke 200 Free relay finish 5th.
Episcopla Amberjax’s Michelle Craddock and Highlander Aquatics’ Riki Bonnema are both competing for NC State. Michelle placed 11th in the 500 Free (4:43.44). Meanwhile Riki placed 2nd in the 50 Free (21.94) and helped the 200 Free relay win gold.
Saint Andrews also has Rachael Bradford-Feldman, who is competing for Louisville. She placed 4th in the 200 IM (1:57.48)
Florida State has many swimmers competing who grew up training in the state of Florida. SPA’s Summer Finke and McKenna Harris are both representing the Seminoles. Summer placed 20th in the 500 Free (4:48.36) while McKenna placed 47th in the 200 IM (2:06.23). Meanwhile Florida First Coast’s Lydia Ware placed 24th in the 50 Free (23.10) and helped the Seminoles’ 200 Free Relay claim 6th. Saint Andrews Brenna Ruth placed 41st in the same event (23.46). Lake Lytal Lightning’s Fabian Ingram placed 48th (23.72).
For the Miami Hurricanes, SYS’s Cameron Davis was 25th in the 500 Free (4:54.27). Lake Lytal Lightning’s Julie Suarez placed 34th in the same event (4:55.32). Meanwhile Metro Aquatic Club’s Alejandra Gonzalez placed 42nd (5:05.28). Highlander’s Angela Algee competed in the C Final of the 50 Free, placing 20th (22.89). Swim Florida’s Jessica Hurley placed 65th (26.31). Julie and Angela combined to help the Hurricane 200 Free Relay place 9th.
