FORT LAUDERDALE – In the most recent CollegeSwimming.com National Swimmer of the Week selections, Nova Southeastern University’s Emma Wahlstrom emerged as the Division II female selection for the weeks Dec. 16 through Jan. 15.

The national award comes on the heels of a near flawless performance in the pool in the Sharks last three outings including the Spartan Invitational in December, where she swam 10 events resulting in nine first-place finishes and one second place finish. She also set NCAA automatic qualifying times in the 200 and 500 freestyle and 200 back stroke events and broke five school records in the 200 free, 500 free, 100 backstroke, 400 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay events.

Wahlstrom went on to win four events with three provisional qualifying times in the Sharks’ home tri-meet against UIndy and Rollins. And closed out the last meet against Florida Southern with another sweep of four event wins two provisional qualifying times.

The award comes after Wahlstrom was just recently recognized in the January 6th issue of Sports Illustrated as a member of SI’s Faces in the Crowd and her second Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week honor.
